How the government shutdown affected EBT and food stamp (SNAP) benefits

May update.

All states are back on their normal food stamp schedules. If you aren’t sure what your state’s normal schedule is, you can find out here.

March Summary.

  1. March benefits came early for most states.
    Although some states went back to their normal schedules in March, most sent out benefits earlier than normal.
  2. April benefits will be back to normal for most States.
    Only a few states are sending out April benefits earlier than normal. Check the list of states below for more information.

Your benefits might come early if you live in one of the few states that’s sending them out earlier than normal. Check the list of states below for more information. And check out these tips to help make your SNAP benefits stretch.

I didn't get my March or April benefits when I should have. Why not?

If you didn't get March or April benefits according to the schedule below, there may be an issue with your SNAP case. Contact your case worker or call the SNAP hotline at 800-342-3009 to figure out why you haven't gotten your benefits. There may be long hold times.
