Food stamp scam in North Dakota (September, 2019)

A scam is currently targeting people who get food stamps benefits in North Dakota. The scammers are calling SNAP recipients to say they'll lose benefits if they don't pay money to the program. The scammers then provide a phone number to call to pay back that money.

If you're in North Dakota and have gotten this phone call, you should:

  • Ignore the call and don't call the phone number they provide! You’ll never receive an official phone call about owing money to the SNAP program.
  • Let your local social service office know that you got the call to help them get to the bottom of the scam.
